Getting Started

Recently in India , many project management associations eg PMI ,IPMA etc have shown active interest by promoting project management , forming chapters, organizing conferences etc. Many of them are very active and they have done a lot of good in spreading awareness .

During the last few years, my observation has been that though we have made progress with our associations , we have not been able to work towards a common goal of promoting project management within India .There is a need for a forum which will be India focussed and look at projects or issues of specific interest to India. This I feel can be done without disturbing our allegiance to the existing organizations .

The Indian Project Management Forum is being formed for this very purpose and will take India centric projects and issues. I will like to invite all like minded people to join and promote project management within India regardless of their involvement in other worldwide project management associations .

At the moment this will be an informal group . We will have a google group going on the internet and sometime later a website. There is no subscription planned at the moment.

I suggest two projects now to start with

1. We are initiating a speaker exchange program between India and the US . PMI Washington DC chapter and PMI Trivandrum , Hyderabad and Chennai Chapters are interested .

2. We can have a project to list successful projects in India - may be a top ten list .
